Noble Bush Gives Up Golf To Support Troops

Did you hear that President Bush gave up golf in order to support the troops? He said he wanted to sacrifice his golf games in honor of the sacrifice the troops are displaying on their third or fourth tours of duty in Iraq. He admitted that it was mainly for public relations reasons because it would not look good for him to be on the golf course during a time of war, but I think this goes to show why he is the best President in the history of the United States.

First he gives wealthy individuals like me an enormous tax cut, then he gives my nuclear power plant huge taxpayer subsidies, then he provides tort reform so people can't sue my nuclear power plant, and now he has given up golf to support the troops. God bless George Bush!

Ah golf. I can remember back in my younger days when I would try to play 18 holes per day. If I couldn't play 18 holes a day it wasn't because I had to work or anything ghastly like that, but sometimes I went out for a day cruise on a friends yacht or spent time flying to Paris to have dinner. Even when I was sitting under the Eiffel Tower having dinner with the Parisian nobility, I would be thinking about the rounds of golf I had missed that day. I just can't believe the sacrifice the President is making in this time of war!

I know that President Bush will play lots of golf next year when he is no longer President. I'm sure he will work for the Carlyle Group or some other company that will pay him millions of dollars to play golf with wealthy weapons dealers or oil executives. Still, giving up golf for the rest of his Presidency must be just unbearable.

How did we get so lucky to have a President like this?

Oh yeah, me and my friends paid for his ticket to the White House.

I just read the interview on Yahoo, I couldn't believe he actually said something like this. A lot of the other stuff he said was equally frustrating. He warns of disaster in Iraq after he leaves office. Maybe he should have listened to someone other than his top advisors when planning the invasion of Iraq. Then he would have understood that his warning is six years too late.

More than 4,077 American soldiers dead. That number doesn't include suicides by returning soldiers which I hear is a large number. It also doesn't count American contractor deaths (which is one reason Rumsfeld wanted to use more contractors.) However, the American deaths are the number the American media focuses on, but the Iraqi death toll is the huge tragedy in all of this. Also, millions of Iraqis have been forced from their homes and pretty much the whole country is suffering from ongoing traumatic stress disorders. But remember, George W. Bush (and M. Albright before him) says this will all be worth it.

Many leaders throughout history have started wars and caused masive levels of death and destruction because they thought it would be worth it. Most of these leaders are now considered tyrants and war criminals.
